Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Central Rockets proved on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Crystal Lake Central as Central made off with a 51-28 win. Given Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Crystal Lake Central is ranked 506th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacob Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myles Lowe, who scored 10 points.
Crystal Lake Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Preston Mast, who scored 13 points, and Avery Lee who scored 5 points.
Central's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Crystal Lake Central, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Central will head out on the road to face off against Crystal Lake South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Crystal Lake Central, they will play host again and welcome McHenry, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. McHenry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Crystal Lake Central likes a good challenge.
