It was a good run, but the Calvary Christian Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 37-28 to Dominion Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calvary Christian has scored all season.
Calvary Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abigail Reinhard, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. Reinhard is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Nora Thornton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dominion Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Gebhart, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel DeGregoria, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Calvary Christian's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Dominion Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Calvary Christian will take on the at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. East Dayton Christian is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Dominion Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
