The Sandpoint Bulldogs posted their biggest win since December 2, 2023 on Wednesday. They blew past Bonners Ferry 73-50. Given Sandpoint's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Bonners Ferry is ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Karlie Banks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 37 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Brecken Mire was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Bonners Ferry's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asha Abubakari, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taren Bateman, who scored 16 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Sandpoint and bumps their season record up to 14-3. As for Bonners Ferry, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandpoint will take on Moscow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bonners Ferry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Landree Simon and Bateman.
