The San Marcos Royals and the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but sadly the San Marcos Royals had to settle for second. They were the victim of a rough 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Wolverines. While losing is never fun, San Marcos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 124th, while Harvard-Westlake is ranked 12th).

San Marcos' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6-4. As for Harvard-Westlake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season.
San Marcos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Harvard-Westlake, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory vs. Edison on the 9th.
