The Mahar Regional Senators were the 12-0 winner over the Athol Bears when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Mahar Regional fell 26-16 to Athol on Friday. It was the first time this season that Mahar Regional let down their fans at home.

Athol's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sawyer Lefsyk, who rushed for 175 yards while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Raydin Sousa, who picked up 135 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mahar Regional now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Athol, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mahar Regional will take on Franklin County Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin County Tech is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Athol, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Greenfield at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Greenfield is ranked 283rd, while Athol is ranked 264th).
