Basketball Game Preview: Oakland-Craig Knights vs. Clarkson/Leigh Patriots

The Oakland-Craig Knights will challenge the Clarkson/Leigh Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakland-Craig is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.

Oakland-Craig took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Humphrey-Lindsay by a score of 52-42.

Oakland-Craig's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briar Ray led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Ray has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Bailey Pelan was another key player, going 6 for 12 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Oakland-Craig smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Humphrey-Lindsay only pulled down four offensive boards.

Meanwhile, Clarkson/Leigh didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Wisner-Pilger on Friday, but they still walked away with a 37-31 victory.

Clarkson/Leigh's win came from a few key players Oakland-Craig will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brynn Settje, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Settje, who earned nine points and eight rebounds.

Clarkson/Leigh now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Oakland-Craig, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

Oakland-Craig strolled past Clarkson/Leigh in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 43-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oakland-Craig since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
