Case faced Hampshire Regional in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Raiders. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Lila Alvarez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Skye Dupre was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Fontes, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Case always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampshire Regional only posted an OBP of .160.
The victory (which was Case's sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hampshire Regional, they moved to 25-2 with that loss, which also ended their 12-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Case nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
