The Columbia Raiders will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Mapleton Mounties at 7:00 p.m.
After a string of 23 wins dating back to last season, Columbia's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Black River 24-20.
The losing side was boosted by Marco Cirigliano, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns. Cirigliano hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for eight straight games.
Meanwhile, Mapleton was able to grind out a solid victory over Crestview on Friday, taking the game 28-18. The victory was just what Mapleton needed coming off of a 40-12 defeat in their prior contest.
Black River's win bumped their season record to 7-3 while Columbia's defeat dropped theirs to 9-1.
Columbia took their victory against Mapleton when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 42-22. Does Columbia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mapleton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
