This season hasn't been kind to the Fort Davis Indians, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were outmatched by Van Horn at home and fell 66-13. Fort Davis was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-4.
Van Horn got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gio Corralez out in front who scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. Corralez hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Orlando Zamora, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Fort Davis' loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-9. As for Van Horn, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Fort Davis will head out on the road to square off against Big Bend at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Big Bend is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Van Horn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Immanuel Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Immanuel Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
