Kendall Huth was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Huth was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karlie Bruce, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brilee Day, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Fort Wayne Northrop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Yorktown hit Madison-Grant with a five-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Argylls took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Argylls have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Johnna Hiatt led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Mae Ricks was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Fort Wayne Northrop pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Madison-Grant, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Wayne Northrop hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
