The Trego Golden Eagles lost against the Hill City Ringnecks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Trego took a 43-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hill City. While losing is never fun, Trego can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Hill City is ranked 114th).
Hill City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Gansel led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Nuss, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Trego's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hill City, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Trego will take on Phillipsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Phillipsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Hill City, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Northern Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
