Montgomery Academy moved up to 94 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Region 5. The Eagles climbed the ranks as a result of besting Ranburne 54-34.
Lanett extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fultondale, 46-41. The victory was the 11th in a row for the team.
Montgomery Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Josh Thomas has thrown for 1,234 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Sam LaPlatney has 26 catches for 650 yards.
Montgomery Academy took down the Bulldogs 54-34 last week, the largest margin of any game. Thomas threw for 33 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 219 yards during the win.
