Washington Township extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-12. They fell 8-5 to Gloucester County Tech. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Gloucester County Tech this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-3 back in April.
Sarah Gibson was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Lianna Turk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
As for Gloucester County Tech, the victory got them back to even at 11-11. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.
On Gloucester County Tech's side, Carly Hernandez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Kroupa, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ashley Vossenberg, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Washington Township will host Kingsway at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Minutemen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gloucester County Tech, they will head out to challenge Westampton Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
