On Tuesday, the Dunbar Crimson Tide faced the DC International Dragons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Dunbar breezed by DC International at home to the tune of 72-34. Dunbar's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Dunbar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Russell led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Russell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gregory Lomax, who scored six points along with eight assists and five steals.
DC International's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gavin Moore, who scored nine points, and Jhalil Route who scored eight points.
Dunbar's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for DC International, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.
Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ballou at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Ballou will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. DC International's road trip will continue as they head out to face Avalon at 1:00 p.m. on January 6th. Avalon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 219th in Maryland, while DC International is ranked 25th in District of Columbia).
