WF West has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Highline Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, everything went WF West's way against Hudson's Bay as WF West made off with a 35-14 victory.
Meanwhile, Highline came tearing into Friday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 55.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Steilacoom with a sharp 42-16 victory.
Highline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ronan Rasmussen led the charge by throwing for 223 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Highline also got help from Marquawn McCraney who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.
WF West's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.33 points. As for Highline, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Everything came up roses for WF West against Highline when the teams last played back in September of 2017 as the squad secured a 47-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for WF West since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
