Despite the defeat, Salem Hills got top-tier performance from Treygan Fusselman, who rushed for 83 yards and one score, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. The Skyhawks also got help from Gordon Wilson, who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Park City). They claimed a resounding 45-14 win over Mountain View. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Miners considering their six-point performance the game before.
Park City's win came from a few key players Salem Hills will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eli Warner, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and also picked up 61 receiving yards and one TD. His longest rush was for an impressive 65 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Owen Osorio, who gained 126 total yards and two touchdowns.
Park City's run defense was locked in: Mountain View could only muster 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Ben Souza for the heroic effort on defense: he. Park City's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.4 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 3.87 on average over their last five games.
Salem Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Park City, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Salem Hills has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 317.6 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Park City, though, as they've been averaging only 157 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Salem Hills came up short against Park City in their previous meeting back in October of 2018, falling 28-24. Thankfully for the Skyhawks, Mark Mccurdy (who rushed for 167 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 119 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
