Calhoun Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Thomas Sumter Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Calhoun Academy was the clear victor by an 18-7 margin over Thomas Sumter Academy on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Skyler Ulmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Ulmer was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Adalynne Fallaw and Coker Carson did most of the damage at the plate: Fallaw went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Carson scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That home run was Fallaw's first of the season. Cailin Shirer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Calhoun Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive games.

Calhoun Academy pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Calhoun Academy beat Thomas Sumter Academy by a score of 16-1 on Thursday.
