They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Incarnate Word Academy an easy 47-23 win. While losing is never fun, Goliad can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1142nd, while Incarnate Word Academy is ranked 355th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Incarnate Word Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emma Romanczyk, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Romanczyk set a new season high mark in steals with five. Another player making a difference was Lily Brown, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Goliad has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Incarnate Word Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
