The Franklin Flyers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Silver Lake, falling 41-13. While losing is never fun, Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while Silver Lake is ranked 126th).
Franklin got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Allison Boettcher and
Macy Lennemann, who each put up three points.
Jordyn Falkenstine held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Franklin's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.7 points per game. As for Silver Lake, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin will square off against Kenesaw on Friday. Hopefully Kenesaw focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Saturday. As for Silver Lake, they will head out on the road to challenge Sumner-Eddyville-Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
