Even though the Cary Imps have not done well against the Holly Springs Golden Hawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cary walked away with a 51-42 victory over Holly Springs. For Cary, this counts as revenge for the 87-35 loss Holly Springs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Cary's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nadia Snesarev, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Snesarev pulled down eight or more rebounds. Luci Augustson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Holly Springs' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kalaesia Lincoln, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Amy Lissow who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Lissow has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Lamptey, who scored four points along with three steals.
Cary's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Holly Springs, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Cary will be playing at home against Apex Friendship at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Apex Friendship focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Monday. Holly Springs' road trip will continue as they head out to face Panther Creek at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. The timing is sure in Panther Creek's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Holly Springs has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
