The Brewer Bears will head out to square off against the Azle Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brewer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Brewer barely beat Granbury the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Brewer's way against Granbury on Tuesday as Brewer made off with an 18-8 victory. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Kamren Pride was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keira Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles.
Brewer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Azle fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Granbury on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 12-11.
Bella Tipton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Haley Carlson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Brewer now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Azle, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-7-2.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brewer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Azle struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brewer came up short against Azle in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can Brewer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
