The McQueen Lancers lost against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. McQueen took a hard 51-32 fall against the Mustangs. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Mustangs are ranked 20th).
When it comes to explaining why McQueen lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caitlin Hilson. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Leading Damonte Ranch to victory were Quinn Garrett and Mya Ghisletta. Garrett scored 12 points along with six assists, while Ghisletta scored 12 points along with two steals. Nisa Rodriguez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
McQueen has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-10.
McQueen will be playing at home against the Cougars at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Spanish Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Damonte Ranch, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
