Basketball Recap: South Dade Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for South Dade, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 53-43 victory over the South Fort Myers Wolfpack on Friday. While the Buccaneers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Despite the loss, South Fort Myers had strong showings from Lil Darius Sotomayor, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds, and Ja?Mahdi Ward, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Ward is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles JaCkson, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

South Dade pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for South Fort Myers, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Dade will take on Westwood Christian in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Fort Myers, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cape Coral at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Fort Myers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.8 points per game this season.
