Basketball Recap: Sparks Takes a Loss

Sparks lost against Pyramid Lake back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Sparks Railroaders were outmatched by the Pyramid Lake Lakers and fell 65-33. The Railroaders' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.

Several Railroaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Flores, who posted 15 points and three steals. The game was Flores' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Hernandez, who put up three points and seven rebounds.

Pyramid Lake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Myron Rivers out in front who had 12 points and three steals. Drevon Carpenter was another key player, putting up nine points and eight rebounds.

Sparks' defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Pyramid Lake, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Sparks will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Truckee at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th. Sparks is facing Truckee at the right time seeing as Truckee is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Pyramid Lake, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 60-11 victory against Coleville on the 3rd.
