Monte Vista Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Stevenson last Thursday. The Mustangs blew past the Pirates 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Harper Ealy Whitby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Monte Vista Christian got a massive performance out of Ava Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Gianna Johnson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Monte Vista Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Mustangs on Thursday. King City fell 6-1 to Pioneer. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, King City couldn't push the score so high this time.
King City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janesa Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Monte Vista Christian moved to 8-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for King City, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Monte Vista Christian came up short against King City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can Monte Vista Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
