Baseball Recap: Mount Airy Christian Academy Gets the Win

Mount Airy Christian Academy took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Perry Hall Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Mount Airy Christian Academy had just enough and edged out Perry Hall Christian 9-8. This was payback for Mount Airy Christian Academy, who suffered a 12-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Charlie Kichler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Kichler was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Gilbert, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Connor McElroy was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Mount Airy Christian Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Perry Hall Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Coincidentally, Mount Airy Christian Academy and Perry Hall Christian will both be playing Rockbridge Academy the next time they take the field. Perry Hall Christian will head out to face Rockbridge Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Mount Airy Christian Academy will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
