Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Bend's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Bend came out on top against Redmond on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run sixth inning. The Lava Bears beat the Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 two weeks ago.

Janelle Guiney made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Guiney was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Bend got a massive performance out of Cassidy Sandgren, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave Sandgren a new career-high. Isabella Lauerman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Bend kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive matchups.

Bend is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Redmond, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10-1.

Coming up, Bend will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Ridgeview at 4:30 p.m. The Ravens will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Lava Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Redmond, they are taking a road trip to square off against Summit at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Storm have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.58 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
