The Crestview Cougars will square off against the Edison Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Crestview and Mapleton had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cougars walked away with an 11-6 win over the Mounties on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mounties: they've now won three in a row.
Gavin Barker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has become a key player for Crestview: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Crestview got a massive performance out of Kayn Patton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Patton a new career-high. Tyson Ringler was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Crestview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Edison came tearing into Wednesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Sailors get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Considering the Chargers have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Edison's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Crestview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Crestview might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Edison in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
