Warren Central extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-13 in the process. They came up short against the Greenwood Woodmen, falling 11-1. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Woodmen from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

Natalie Hiliard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played.
Hiliard wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kira Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
As for Greenwood, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.
Like Warren Central, Greenwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Tessa Hammons. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Hammons a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Gracelyn Bowles was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kinsley Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warren Central will host Ben Davis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Giants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenwood, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. The Woodmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
