Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The St. Andrew's Episcopal Saints, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Mize 62-3 on Friday. St. Andrew's Episcopal was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-3.
Friend Walker threw for 76 yards on six of 17 attempts. Sargeant Moriarity was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards. On the ground, Evan arthur White rushed for 51 yards.
Mize was led to victory by Jamiyon Gray and Brandon Hancock. Gray rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, while Hancock gained 114 total yards and three touchdowns. Hancock was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Mize also got a significant boost from Wesley Little, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
St. Andrew's Episcopal's defeat was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 4-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.3 points per game. As for Mize, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
St. Andrew's Episcopal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mize will square off against Scott Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scott Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
