Independence has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against The Walnut Ridge Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Independence will be strutting in after a victory while Walnut Ridge will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Independence blew past West, posting a 48-6 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Independence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Robarje Magnus, who rushed for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Magnus was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Montael Davis was another key contributor, rushing for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Walnut Ridge, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 34-18 loss to Briggs on Friday.
Independence's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-5. They've been dominating across those matches too: they took their wins by an average of 37 points. Walnut Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Independence took their win against Walnut Ridge when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 28-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
