Softball Recap: Mchenry Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

McHenry had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Central Rockets a 1-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Rockets back in April, they had to take a 6-2 loss.

Not much got past Natalie Bender, who gave up just two hits to keep Central off the board. Bender has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, McHenry saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica McCarthy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. McCarthy has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

McHenry pushed their record up to 12-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.
