The Parrish Community Bulls will head out on the road to square off against the North Port Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Parrish Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Parrish Community's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Bayshore with a sharp 14-0 win. The Bulls haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Francesco Giustino tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Billy Mallon was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Cam Eidson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday North Port sidestepped Charlotte for a 2-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.
Wes Stines made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because North Port is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-4 otherwise. Stines was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Stines wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Armstrong, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI. That RBI was Armstrong's first of the season.
Parrish Community pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Port, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Parrish Community has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Port struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Parrish Community beat North Port 5-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Parrish Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
