Aitkin has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pine City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Gobblers will look to defend their home field against the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aitkin has eight straight victories, Pine City has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Aitkin's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Crosby-Ironton as they made off with a 23-0 win. That looming 23-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gobblers yet this season.

Sienna Melz was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two triples, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Haley Shereck was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Shereck is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Maddy Burgstaler, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Aitkin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pine City scored the most runs they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They lost 27-20 to Mora.
Aitkin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pine City, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything went Aitkin's way against Pine City when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Aitkin made off with a 17-6 victory. Do the Gobblers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
