PikeView is 0-10 against Shady Spring since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when PikeView challenged Summers County on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Bobcats. The Panthers have beaten the Bobcats the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bobcats has come to flipping the script.

Landon Wyatt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, PikeView got a massive performance out of Trenton Tolliver, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The Panthers are undefeated when Tolliver posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eli Hilling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
PikeView was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Shady Spring waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Warriors 11-5.
Colyn Smith looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aiden Calvert was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Seabolt, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double.
Shady Spring's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for PikeView, their record is now 13-9.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. PikeView hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Shady Spring struggles in that department as they've averaged .313. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
PikeView might still be hurting after the 18-10 loss they got from Shady Spring when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
