Softball Recap: Eastbrook Has No Trouble Against Eastern

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Madison-Grant, Eastbrook was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Eastern Comets as they made off with a 13-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Randy Casto and Delanie Elliott made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Casto tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Elliott tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Casto went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Elliott went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits Casto has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyvia Pumroy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Legg, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Eastbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Eastbrook has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Eastbrook beat the Comets by a score of 18-3 later that day.
