The Xavier Prep Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 70-48 loss at the hands of Shadow Hills. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Xavier Prep has suffered against Shadow Hills since May 14, 2021.
Despite the defeat, Xavier Prep saw an underclassman step up: Paul Dreisbach scored 25 points along with three steals. That was a full 52.1% of Xavier Prep's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Johnny Ferrel, who scored 12 points.
Shadow Hills can attribute much of their success to Sergio Felix, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivan Acosta, who scored 12 points.
Xavier Prep's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Shadow Hills, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Xavier Prep will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Palm Springs at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Palm Springs knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Xavier Prep likes a good challenge. As for Shadow Hills, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. Palm Desert is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
