Softball Recap: Southeast Guilford Has No Trouble Against Page

Southeast Guilford got themselves on the board against Page on Tuesday, but Page never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 22-0 victory. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Katie Jenkins-Cowart and Kayla Shoffner made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Jenkins-Cowart pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Shoffner pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jenkins-Cowart has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Jenkins-Cowart scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Shoffner went 3-for-4 with six RBI, two triples, and three runs. Jenkins-Cowart also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Wilson, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Cailynn Sockwell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Southeast Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Page only posted an OBP of .200.

Southeast Guilford's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Page, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Southeast Guilford will face off against Eastern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southeast Guilford's pitchers better be ready for this one: Eastern Guilford has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Page, they will square off against Southwest Guilford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
