Deep Run is 2-8 against Godwin since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wildcats will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Deep Run will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Deep Run is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Maggie Walker with a sharp 24-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Wildcats have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Will Frank looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Deep Run got a massive performance out of Henry Jennings, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Nolan French also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Deep Run always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .681. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Godwin nor Glen Allen made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles walked away with a 7-2 win over the Jaguars. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Davis Golden looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Hartsfield, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. J Babcock was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Deep Run has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Godwin, their record is now 9-2.
Deep Run came out on top in a nail-biter against Godwin in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
