The South Bulldogs had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They took down Briggs 66-51. Given South's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Bruins are ranked 592nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lajames Washington out in front who scored ten points. Gavin Griffin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
South has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Briggs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
South will head out on the road to take on the Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully the Bulldogs likes a good challenge. As for Briggs, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
