Softball Recap: Norris Wins Going Away Against Byng

While Norris put up some runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Byng. The Titans put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Embrie Bednar looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Norris has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Byng, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Norris didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-8 loss against Blair on the 6th. As for Byng, they will face off against Lone Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.4, the Longhorns 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
