Richland County extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Gavyn Cothern. The Tigers took down the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces 42-26 on Friday for which the team can thank Cothern, who rushed for 138 yards and four TDs on only 15 carries, and also threw for 132 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Cothern is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 107 every time he's taken the field this season.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Richland County, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ian Pianfetti, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore River Deisher rushed for 123 yards and one score, and also threw for 74 yards and one touchdown. Elliott Acree was another key player, gaining 85 total yards and a touchdown.
