Softball Recap: Brunswick Has No Trouble Against Corbin

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Park, Brunswick was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Corbin Redhounds. The high-scoring effort was just what the Blue Devils needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Lyla Kaye tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Soworowski, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Abbey Nemec was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Corbin, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brunswick will take on North Royalton at 5:00 p.m. on the 9th. As for Corbin, they will square off against Hendersonville at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Commandos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Redhounds' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
