The Ruskin Christian Warriors will take on the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ruskin Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Ruskin Christian got the win against Gulf Coast H by a conclusive 12-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Aadi Cayasso was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Angel Martinez III was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Ruskin Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gulf Coast H only posted an OBP of .200.
Meanwhile, while Central Florida Christian Academy put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for First Baptist Christian Academy. Central Florida Christian Academy walked away with a 5-0 win over First Baptist Christian Academy.
Casey Nipper was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. He has become a key player for Central Florida Christian Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 2-4 otherwise. Nipper was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andy Headley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Central Florida Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Vax Vouriotis, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Central Florida Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Ruskin Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ruskin Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central Florida Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.8 strikeouts.
