Softball Recap: North Sanpete Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

North Sanpete barely beat Carbon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The North Sanpete Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Carbon Dinos a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Kaecee Johnson's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rylee Stewart and Alivia Madsen did most of the damage at the plate: Stewart went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Madsen scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Stewart a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Shea Rawlinson, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: North Sanpete kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only managed three hits.

North Sanpete is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. Carbon is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Sanpete will square off against Juab at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. North Sanpete's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Juab's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Carbon, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will take on Manti at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
