The Kecoughtan Warriors pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 79-55 walloping at the hands of Woodside. While losing is never fun, Kecoughtan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Woodside is ranked 17th).
When it comes to explaining why Kecoughtan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tyler Suber. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Briant Galbreath, who scored eight points.
Kecoughtan now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Woodside, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kecoughtan will face off against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kecoughtan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 308 points over their last five games. As for Woodside, they will head out on the road to face off against Archbishop Carroll at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
