The Stratford Elks put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past West Texas 55-7 at home. The result was nothing new for Stratford, who have now won eight matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Stratford was led to victory by Josue Licon and Bryce Braden. Licon rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, while Braden threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Ibarra, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Stratford's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. As for West Texas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Stratford will face off against Sundown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sundown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 872nd, while Stratford is ranked 210th). As for West Texas, they will take on New Deal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Deal is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
