The Yerington Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Oasis Academy Bighorns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Oasis Academy will be up against a hot Yerington squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Yerington's pitcher stepped up to hand Pershing County a 14-0 shutout on Saturday.
Kyson Shramek was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Valor Angle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Oasis Academy entered their tilt with Silver Stage on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Nighthawks with a sharp 14-0 victory. The matchup marked the Bighorns' most dominant win of the season so far.
Ryder McNabb was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zachary Budner, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Fenn Mackedon, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Oasis Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Oasis Academy pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Yerington, their record now sits at 11-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Yerington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oasis Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Yerington beat Oasis Academy 6-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Does Yerington have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oasis Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
