Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Kirby Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 44-6 loss at the hands of Haywood. While losing is never fun, Kirby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Haywood is ranked 96th).
Camarion Miller was his usual excellent self, rushing for 85 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, while also picking up 42 receiving yards. Kemonte Williams was in the mix as well, providing Haywood with two touchdowns.
Kirby's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Haywood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Kirby does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Haywood will be playing at home against Millington Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
