The North Medford Black Tornado's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 79-65 to South Eugene. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why North Medford lost, one person who can't be blamed is Houston Klug. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Klug has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Miguel Torres, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, North Medford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Landyn Bryant continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Eugene, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Bryant also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Saunders, who scored 21 points along with two steals.
North Medford has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for South Eugene, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-7.
North Medford will be playing at home against Roseburg at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Roseburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games. As for South Eugene, they will head out on the road to square off against Willamette at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Willamette will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while South Eugene is ranked 85th).
